📌Introduction

(August 13, 1926 – November 25, 2016) Fidel Castro was one of the most iconic and controversial political figures of the 20th century. As the leader of Cuba for nearly five decades, he transformed the island nation into a socialist state, reshaped its place in global politics, and became a symbol of resistance against Western influence for many around the world.

 📖 Early Life & Education

Fidel Alejandro Castro Ruz was born on August 13,1926 in Birán, Oriente Province, Cuba. Fidel grew up in a relatively well-off family that owned a sugar plantation. He studied law at the University of Havana, where he first became involved in political activism and social justice causes. His early experiences shaped his views on inequality and foreign domination in Cuba.

His father, Ángel Castro y Argiz, was a wealthy Spanish immigrant who owned a large sugar plantation. His mother, Lina Ruz González, worked in the household before marrying Ángel.

Although Fidel grew up in relative comfort, he witnessed the deep economic inequality between wealthy landowners and poor agricultural workers. Those observations would later influence his revolutionary beliefs.

Even as a child, Fidel displayed determination, confidence, and exceptional intelligence.

Education and Formation of Political Ideas

Castro attended Jesuit schools, including the prestigious Colegio de Belén in Havana.

Teachers described him as highly intelligent, disciplined, ambitious, and competitive.

After graduating, he entered the University of Havana in 1945 to study law.

The university was a center of political activism. Fidel quickly became involved in student movements and anti-corruption campaigns.

During these years, he developed strong nationalist and anti-imperialist beliefs while studying the works of José Martí, Karl Marx, Friedrich Engels, and Vladimir Lenin.

He increasingly believed that Cuba required radical political change.

I,Steve Ho Ong, your world's famous necrologist is showing to the readers and viewers that Fidel Castro  toppled the government in 1959, introducing a Communist revolution. He defied the US for decades, surviving many assassination plots almost 600.

His supporters said he had given Cuba back to the people. Critics saw him as a dictator.

Legacy

When he died in 2016 at age 90, Fidel Castro left behind a Cuba deeply shaped by his vision. His legacy remains debated — to some he was a liberator, to others an authoritarian ruler — but none can deny his lasting impact on Cuba and world history.

Fidel Castro’s life remains deeply divisive. To many, he was a hero who brought dignity and independence to Cuba. To others, he was a dictator whose policies led to repression and poverty. Regardless of perspective, his impact on Cuba, Latin America, and global Cold War politics is undeniable.
